FK skiers capture many top spots at County meet in Mars Hill

FORT KENT – Feb. 24 edition - The Fort Kent boys ski team took top honors in the slalom race, finishing 19 points ahead of Central Aroostook, who took second place, at the Aroostook County ski meet at Big Rock in Mars Hill on Feb. 19.

Fort Kent swept the top three spots, with Logan Doak finishing in first place with a first run time of 43.09, a second run time of 43.98, and a combined time of 1:21.64. Freshman Brandon Ouellette followed in second with a combined time of 1:23.40, while Ted Martin rounded up the top three with a combined time of 1:26.04.

Fort Kent’s boys’ team came in a narrow second in the giant slalom competition, finishing just two points behind Central Aroostook. Doak finished in first place for the second time on the day with a first run time of 43.09, a second run time of 43.98, and a combined time of 1:27.07. Central Aroostook’s Taylor Garrison and Logan Brewer finished second and third, respectively, to round out the top three.

The Fort Kent girls finished four points ahead of the Caribou High School team to give them a first place finish in the slalom competition.

Caribou’s Laura Collins took first place finish in the event, and Fort Kent took second, third and fourth places. Second place went to Fort Kent’s Kayla Davenport, who finished with a first run time of 49.18, a second run time of 48.30 and a combined time of 1:37.48. Danielle Ouellette finished in third with a combined time of 1:39.31, while Roxanne Pelletier finished in fourth with a combined time of 1:40.09.

Fort Kent also finished ahead of Caribou in the giant slalom competition. Danielle Ouellette of Fort Kent finished in second place in the event with a first run time of 49.87, a second run time of 50.96 and a combined run time of 1:40.83. Kayla Davenport, Rudy Martin and Samantha Dubay finished fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.
