University of Maine at Fort Kent art student Bridget Hughes shows her drawing, titled “When they come home,” to fellow UMFK students Tyler Dufour and Josh Plourde during the student posters segment of UMFK’s 2011 Scholars’ Symposium on April 29 at the university’s Sports Center. The theme for this year’s symposium was “Bridging our Future: Culture, Conflict & Convergence.” Other displays included posters from nursing, environmental, and business students, as well as other artworks and a knotted-rope sculpture called “Do Knot Object” created by students in Therese Provenzano’s Art Fundamental’s class. Guest speakers and panelists also participated in the event.
