VAN BUREN - The senior class at Van Buren District School will be putting on a golf tournament for Project Graduation.

The tournament will take place at Long Lake Country Club in St. David on Saturday, Sept. 10, with a rain date set for Sunday, Sept. 11.

The format for the tournament will be a three-person scramble.

Registration for the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., with a shotgun start set to begin at 10 a.m.

Teams will pay a $90 registration fee, which will pay for their round of golf, and includes a dinner after the tournament.

The Project Graduation tournament has over 60 sponsors so far, including both local businesses and national businesses such as Golf Week Magazine and the Portland Sea Dogs.

“We're swimming in prizes right now,” said Dean Duplessis, organizer of the tournament that will benefit Van Buren's Project Grad. “We have almost $5,000 in prizes right now.”

There are “three or four” teams registered so far, according to Duplessis, however he is still optimistic for last minute registrations.

Project Grad gives high school students in Van Buren, through fundraisers, the opportunity to celebrate in a chemical-free environment upon graduation.
