Valley towns begin annual meetings and elections

ST. JOHN VALLEY - The St. John Valley is gearing up for election season as the first group of Valley communities begins holding their annual town meetings starting next week. The remainder will take place in later this summer.

On Tuesday, March 20, Frenchville will hold both its annual town elections and town meeting. Voters can go to the polls located at the community center between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The annual town meeting will take place beginning at 7 p.m. in the same location.

New Canada will also hold its annual town meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21.

Elections will take place from 2 to 6 p.m., also on March 21, at the community center located across from Daigle Pond.

Voters in Fort Kent can cast ballots between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 26 at the town office. Officials and residents will reconvene at 7:30 p.m. that day at the Fort Kent Community School for the annual town meeting.

St. Francis residents will have an opportunity to take part in the town’s annual meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, March 26. This meeting will be held at the St. Francis Elementary School.

Wallagrass town elections will take place from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at the Wallagrass Elementary School, followed by the town meeting at 7 p.m.

St. John town elections are set to start at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29 as well, at the community center. The annual town meeting will be held the following day, starting at 7 p.m. Friday March 30, also at the center.

In Allagash, Friday, March 30 is municipal election day, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the community center, located in the former Allagash public school building. The annual town meeting for Allagash residents will take place beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, also at the community center.
