Fire department celebrates Cyr’s contributions

Madawaska fire department personnel, current and retired, as well as friends and well-wishers stopped by on Friday to bid farewell to fire chief Norman Cyr, who is retiring on Saturday, after 43 years with the department.

July 4 edition: MADAWASKA – Madawaska Fire Chief Norman Cyr, who will retire this summer after 43 years with the Madawaska fire department, was celebrated in a retirement open house last week. The open house took place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 29 at the Madawaska Public Safety Complex.

Cyr served all but 10 of those years as chief of the department. He officially stepped down on June 30.

Last year, Cyr retired from the Northern Aroostook Regional Incinerator Facility, now known as Valley Recycling Facility Inc., in Frenchville, after 27 years.
