EXCLUSIVELY ONLINE: CLAIR - Caroline Mallais of St. Francois earned the public’s choice vote for the 18-plus category Friday night with her rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Halleluhiah” during the 2012 Festiv-été on opening night Friday, June 29 in Clair, N.B. in front of more than 100 festival-goers. She dedicated the song to her younger sister. Mallais went on to win the adult competition after singing “Malade” in the finals Saturday night. She is the daughter of Paul Mallais and Rolande Bard. Along with a talent show, the weekend festival featured volleyball, ball-hockey, craft vendors, a barbeque, and local musicians. The event was headed this year by festival president Karen Plourde.
