To the Editor,

It did not rain on the Festival Chautauqua parade last Sunday in Frenchville. The sun beamed down on all the participants and the many who lined the parade route.

We should never take for granted the events that are produced in our individual towns.

It was in my fourth decade that I became aware that there was such a thing as event planners.

All celebrations, festivities, weddings, and parades are done by volunteers doing stuff from scratch, as there are no budgets. Several festivals are being planned as I write, such as the Acadian Festival, Summerfest, the Muskie Derby, and Ploye Festival.

Our presence shows how much we support all those individuals who place their lives on hold to plan and give to the creative economy of the area.
