Nov. 7 edition: VAN BUREN, Maine - The majority of the construction workers were off last Friday, but work on the new port facility in Van Buren is nearly 90 percent complete, according to Patrick J. Sclafani, public affairs officer with General Services Agency. The facility will consist of a much larger commercial port of entry, with "green" technology such as geothermal heating and cooling, and solar hot water. Port Director Patricia Scull said she would be glad to move her agents into the new building next year. Her staff has been working out of temporary building since 2008, when the previous structure was damaged in a flood.
