Moose season wraps up with 731 local tags

ST. JOHN VALLEY, Maine - The 2013 moose hunting season has come to an end as of Nov. 9. Quigley’s Outdoors in Fort Kent tagged 223 moose during the last week, bringing the grand total to 646 moose tagged at the station over the three weeks. The largest moose during the last week weighed in at 785 pounds.

At Ouellette’s Trading Post in Van Buren 35 moose were tagged over the last week of the season, for a total of 85 moose tagged at the station during the three weeks. The biggest moose weighed in during the entire season at the station weighed 990 pounds.

The final week of the moose hunting season was dedicated to exclusively hunting cows (female moose).
